Send listings to celolist@gmail.com. Please keep your listings short--100-word limit. Submissions of over 100 words will be edited for length. Verbose listings may be edited regardless of length. No attachments or pictures (links are fine) -- please put all the relevant text in the body of your e-mail so I can copy and paste. And please include your name so we know who is speaking.
Extra points if you put your listing in the well-established Celo List format (see any listing below), including your name and contact information at the top.
Please limit listings to activities/stuff in Yancey and Mitchell. Political events and announcements are fine but not political rants. Real estate listings from property owner only. The Celo List is currently going to 2,700 subscribers, mostly in Yancey and Mitchell. Unsubscribe link is at the bottom.
Needless to say, a listing here does not constitute an endorsement of truthfulness or good character.

Astra Coyle’s Better Breathing series will begin on Monday, January 12 rather than January 5. Here’s Astra’s listing:
Better Breathing, Astra Coyle
Mondays: 5:30 pm–6:45 pm Celo Health Center Classroom
828-230-9050, astracoyle@gmail.com
Our breathing affects our cells, thinking, posture, and movement. It also acts like a register, reflecting the state of our nervous system, activity and mood. Thankfully it is a two-way street with breath. When we improve our ability to breathe, we gain vitality, improve our posture, thinking, and mood ;-) Improving our breathing is one of the best things we can do for ourselves. It is a great way to start off the new year, acquiring skills that will ripple throughout the whole year. Register by email in advance. Space is limited to 10 participants. $140 for series. All classes are recorded and shared. Payments via Venmo ASTRA-COYLE or contact me.

We may have the answer. This fall we went to a remote village of Azerbaijan on the Iranian border. This beautiful mountain realm has been home to hundreds of centenarians +, one of whom we had the fortune to meet. We will share with visuals and stories from our two 2025 visits to Azerbaijan, in which we formed deeper bonds of friendship and conservation solidarity.

We have compiled a list of titles for photographs that don’t yet exist. You are invited to make pictures inspired by these titles. For example, “Proof I was here” could be a picture of your signature hat in a funny place, a cloud bank over the mountains, or your dental bill. Whether you submitted photos or not, join us for a slideshow with snacks and drinks on March 7 at 7pm in the CCC. Full details and instructions for submitting photos are at https://tinyurl.com/CFUpicturethat.

Has new power steering pump and lines. Rack and pinion need replacement else the pump may burn out again eventually. Heat works great. AC stopped working this summer, but I haven’t done troubleshooting. Email for pics or questions.

Recliner and dishwasher - Free to a good home
Free Kenmore Elite dishwasher - ~ 12 years old, runs very well. We still have the manual. Standard outlet. Would recommend cleaning out the filter (which is harder than it should be).
Well loved, small leather recliner that has been in our extended family for many years. Ideally for cuddling pets, napping while your new to you gently used dishwasher runs (see above), or for stacking book bags and other things in a corner of your kitchen. The frame is sturdy and none of the leather is torn.
Pick up is in Spruce Pine.

Handcrafted Furniture Identification Help
We are trying to who the furniture maker may was. We have been unable to identify any maker’s marks. It is a very well made hardwood dining room set that was handcrafted and hand carved over 60 years ago for our home for the previous owners (the Lawsons). The set has a table, 6 chairs, two side boards, and a cabinet.
If you recognize the pieces or have any ideas where we could find more information on the craftsperson or the company that made the set please email me.

We have a lovely young female cat that was given to us but we cannot keep her. She is sociable, affectionate and gets along well with our 2 small dogs; uses the litter box correctly. White calico with gray and red (yellow?) patches. Our vet says she is 7-8 months old. We have gotten part of her shots at our vet’s; we are fostering her for the Mitchell Co. shelter, she is on their waiting list for spaying and the remainder of shots.
