Mid-week edition; various items
Send listings to celolist@gmail.com. Please keep your listings short--100-word limit. Submissions of over 100 words will be edited for length. Verbose listings may be edited regardless of length. No attachments or pictures (links are fine) -- please put all the relevant text in the body of your e-mail so I can copy and paste. And please include your full name so we know who is speaking.
Please limit listings to activities/stuff in Yancey and Mitchell. Political events and announcements are fine but not political rants. Real estate listings from property owner only. The Celo List is currently going to 2,500 subscribers, mostly in Yancey and Mitchell. Unsubscribe link is at the bottom.
I will be grateful if you format your listing using the Celo List format:
Your Name
Your Email (if you want to be contacted by email)
Your Phone (if you want to be contacted by phone)
Listing (100 words or less)
Needless to say, a listing here does not constitute an endorsement of truthfulness or good character.
The Celo List goes out once a week, usually on Sunday. There's no deadline, but if you want to be sure your item is included, it's a good idea to get it in by Saturday.
>>>>>I don't monitor the inbox, so if something needs to go out before Sunday, you'll need to call me and let me know.<<<<<

In August, an industrious group of potters gathered to make over 110 bowls for Dig In! Yancey’s October event. Now it’s time to decorate them! Anyone who can hold a paintbrush is welcome to join us.
Saturday, September 7 from 10-2, High Country Ceramics, 552 U.S. 19E, Burnsville
Clay was donated by Highwater Clay in Asheville, but we’d love to collect a little money to help pay for other provided supplies. If you have finished bowls of any craft, drop them off that day, or anytime in September at High Country Ceramics, or Yancey County Library. Let me know if you have any questions!

Death and Danishes! Come for both (conversation about the former and consumption of the latter + coffee!). September 14 at the Yancey County Library - 10 to 12.
What does a "good death" mean to you, and where did your ideas come from? And will they serve you still when your time comes? What of your ideas has generosity for those that follow you? What do you need from your community for your last days to be full of heart? How do you want to show up for others in their dying process? Join us, a small group of beautiful humans here who are meeting and planning around the idea of how to regenerate local networks of care for our dying and grieving people.

There are several organizations encouraging people to vote, and some working specifically with NC, people of color, and against attempts to suppress certain communities' vote. For those interested in writing postcards to these voters with voting information with others, I am tentatively organizing a gathering at the Celo Community Center Pavilion. Tentatively, because I don't know yet who else is interested. So if you want to do it, and I would say Saturday September 14 at 4pm, please let me know. Below are links to some of the organizations doing this work, but you may go with other ones.
