Livestake give-away for residents of South Toe Watershed!
Saturday, March 14, 9-11 am (or until they run out) at the Celo Commons (old Celo Inn site)
Livestakes are cuttings from dormant woody plants found along stream banks. With proper installation and care, these stakes can grow into shrubs and trees that reduce impacts from flooding, stabilize stream banks and improve habitat for wildlife and pollinators. They need moist soil within a few feet of the waterline. Shrub species include silky willow, silky dogwood, red stem dogwood, elderberry, and buttonbush. Tree species include black willow, red maple and river birch. *** They will need to be planted soon, and stored in a bucket of water until planting. We will provide planting info at pick-up.

PROTEST
This Friday, March the 13th 2-4 pm at “The Intersection” of 19E and 226S in Spruce Pine. Plenty of signs there, or bring your own.
If you’re coming from Burnsville, this is the turn you take to Grassy Creek. We’ll gather on the green space north of Valley rd. You can park anywhere along the highway you feel comfortable with and there’s a large grassy area on the North side of Valley Rd.
We’ll also gather at Spruce Pint around 4pm for a Friday the 13th happy hour. Bring your black cats.
